The Dream
The Fig & Goat Retreat is a Reid family dream that germinated during the ‘Great Rethink’ of 2020. Running a retreat center was a long-term dream – a retirement job, we thought. But when this unique property became available, we decided to take a leap more than a decade early.
Our mission is to create a space of rest, renewal, and retreat in the heart of metro Atlanta.
The History
The main house at the Fig & Goat Retreat was built in 1901. It initially was home for a family of 13 kids! When this family had grown, the house changed hands and was owned by a family with only 11 kids. From 2006-08, the house was completely renovated from the foundation up, carefully maintaining the original style. It served as a Bed and Breakfast, the Social Goat, for more than a decade before becoming the Fig & Goat Retreat.
